Had the pleasure of seeing my friends in Hatebreed this evening. The show was a little over an hour out of Nashville in Clarksville Tennessee at a newer venue called O’Connor’s Irish Pub.
Took they long drive out with my buddy Jack Gibson, bassist for Exodus. Hatebreed are currently on tour with Clutch and Dropkick Murphys . Tonight being an off night from the full package. Was great to catch up with all the guys, haven’t seen them in a year or so. As always the absolutely CRUSHED the crowd from start to finish. Set list was full of crowd favorites including, Destroy Everything, Live Through This, This is now among others. Celebrating their 25th anniversary on this current run, they are digging deep, going all the way back to the beginning. Being two and a half decades in to their career , they are on top of their game with no end in site. Returning to the studio following this tour to begin a new record .
Photos from the September 27th show have been added to their gallery. You can also view photos from 11 other shows going back 15 years to 2004. Images can be seen from several festivals including Rock On The Range , Ozzfest and Mayhem Fest.
My first experience with the band was on Ozzfest in 2004. Never having seen a ” Wall Of Death” before , I was hooked after the first show. Having been a fan now for 15 years and become friends with all the guys, i still love seeing them . Nothing quite like a Hatebreed show or crowd. No ballads, not much talking, just a whole lot of East Coast Hard Core and head banging.

The current Alice Cooper / Halestorm tour came through Nashville over the weekend. Being hometown to Joe, Lzzy and Josh of Halestorm and Chuck Garric of Alice’s band, they played to a sold out crowd. Performing blistering sets , full of hits and classics at the iconic Grand Ole Opry.
Opening the show was Motionless In White ,with a 60 minute set from the Halestorm. Featuring a handful of songs from their Vicious cd and favorites including, Love Bites, I Get Off, and more. 15 years ago i 1st saw them opening for Shinedown. been a fan since and become friends and seen countless shows. Sunday’s , I saw an older, wiser , refined band . While they have always put 110% into their performances , this new tour this is a well oiled machine. no longer the young band finding their way, they are Grammy winning , road warrior rock stars. From an early age , knew what they wanted , busted their asses, and went for it . on the way to a very long career at the top of their game. Watching them not change one bit as they have gained popularity and success . Treating every fan they same as they always have, making sure everyone feels loved and appreciated. After all , it truly is the fans that make a band, they love each and every one of them. Living in the same city, Joe and Lzzy are regularly out and about supporting local bands, performing clubs as often as possible. Apparently their is hope for the future of rock and roll !
Music & Arts did a video interview during our shoot for the cover of their 2015 gift guide at my studio .

Closing the show Sunday was the King Of Shock Rock Alice Cooper . Alice has certified himself as a timeless rock and roll icon . Having a catalog of 27 studio albums, 48 singles, 11 live albums and 12 video releases , Grammy winner and Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee . With no end in site , I highly suggest getting out to see this tour if it hits your area. Continually reinventing himself, this year’s stage show is everything a fan could want and more. Full of classics and a castle on stage with all the antics you know and love and new props and gags. His current touring lineup includes Glen Sobel, Ryan Roxie, Tommy Henriksen , Chuck Garric and Nita Strauss. The band is tight as can be and on fire.
As a young child in the mid 70’s Alice’s album Killers is the first 8 track tape I remember lifting from my mom’s collection. I was instantly hooked, and have been a fan ever since. In October of 2002 I had the honor and privilege of photographing my first concert with him in Milwaukee Wisconsin at The Rave .
Putting on a 90 minute show, many of today’s younger bands can’t touch this 71 year old legend. Performing fan favorites like School’s Out, Billion Dollar Babies ,Under My Wheels and 17 others. Solo’s from all members, giant monsters, babies and the crowd favorite guillotine beheading , if you haven’t seen a show, do yourself a favor. Closing the fun filled set was the anthem School’s Out featuring Joe Hottinger and Lzzy Hale of Halestorm, with snippets of Another Brick In The Wall. Giant balloons, bubbles, and crowd covered in confetti Alice brought the show he is known for. Putting bands half his age to shame, lots of artists have stolen from , and imitated his act, even more should learn from it !
Alice joined his band at an intimate venue The Basement East on an off day under the name The Goon Squad and surprised the crowd with a rare appearance. This the third time he has done this here in Nashville. A consummate professional that truly enjoys performing.
Since that first show I have shot 10 more shows thankful to my friend Chuck Garric , Alice’s incredible bass player. Esp Guitars sent me out to do a photo shoot with Chuck for advertising in 2007 while still living in Chicago. We had a great shoot , images from it ended up being used in several ads for Esp and Coffin Case . Chuck and I hit it off that night , stayed in touch and reconnected when him and his wife moved to Nashville in 2013. An amazingly talented bassist, guitarist and vocalist, now with his solo band Beasto Blanco , that also includes Coop’s daughter Calico . Chuck , much like Joe and Lzzy can be seen regularly out and about in town and plays regularly with local bands, and events.
The Black Label Society photo gallery has been updated now with images from over 40 concerts. Over the past 16 years I have photographed over one hundred concerts with the band around the country. Shows on Ozzfest , Gigantour, Rock On The Range, Rocklahoma and others. Images from video shoots and inside the recording studio to appearances at Namm and The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. Tonight’s addition of photos brings the gallery total to over 400 shots since 2001. My photographs of the band have appeared in magazine around the world. Endorsement ads and posters for Gibson, Emg , Marhshall , Celestion , Dunlop and several more. The multi million selling video game Guitar Hero even used one on the box cover for the first game seen below.
Guitar Hero 1 featuring my Zakk Wyde photo on box cover.
In 2005 I did 32 shows across the country with the band as well as in the recording studio and tour rehearsals. Photos from behind the scenes on the set of the Suicide Messiah video as well.
I took a drive up to Indiana to see Slayer again a few weeks back on their Final World Tour. Klipsch Music Center marked my 184th show photographing the band over the past 20 years. Noblesville was hit with a nasty storm forcing the show to be postponed for several hours. Cannibal Corpse was unable to perform , but Lamb Of God and Amon Amarth put on amazing sets. Performing crowd favorites including Chemical Warfare, Mandatory Suicide , Hell Awaits , Angel Of Death and 14 others. Their set is like standing at the gates of hell with a pyro production that rivals the likes of Kiss and Motley Crue. With upside down crosses of fire that could be felt at the back of the lawn. I honestly don’t know how Gary Holt and Kerry King have not burned their beards yet.
Having been a fan of the band since my early teens, I like millions of others am not looking forward to them retiring after 40 years. If you had told me in 1987 at my first show that later in life I would be come friends with the guys and work almost 200 shows with them… I would have said you are HIGH. While i am merely 16 shows from hitting 200 it is unlikely . It will be a sad day when the final notes of Angel Of Death ring out , but I look forward to being there to see , witness and photograph it. If you are even remotely a fan, I highly suggest seeing them before it is over. in an usual twist they will be performing before Lynyrd Skynyrd October 11th at Exit 111 Fest . This will mark their final performance in Tennessee.
Final World Tour
I updated my site with photos from the Indiana show this week. Slayer gallery to 43 shows for viewing. Going to 2003 and will be updated with more as time allows . shots from all over the USA as well as my trip overseas in December of 2018. I shot shows in Oslo Norway and the Helsinki Finland show on December 8. Making these shows even cooler was seeing my good friend Phil Demmel formerly of Machine Head . Demmel stepped in last minute to fill in for Gary Holt who needed to leave the tour as his father passed . Helsinki was also INCREDIBLY special to me as I finally took a show ending drum riser shot of the band as well as a dressing room shot moments before the band hit the stage seen below . An absolute honor and pleasure for this lifelong Slayer fan.

August 8, 2004 I had the huge honor of being the only photographer to ever shoot Kerry King, Zakk Wylde and Dimebag Darrell together. Dubbed ” The Triple Threat” working with these three legends and friends was one of the highlights of my career. Images form this shoot can be seen here The Triple Threat Photo shoot

Life has been a little crazy the past 5 months or so, and i am long overdue for an update here.
Shortly after my birthday I was diagnosed with MS. It was of course a hard pill to swallow at first. Leaving me with tons of questions, feelings and followed by a bout with depression. After speaking with a few friends in the industry that also have it , a new mind set settled in . Several folks said well, you can sit on this, and keep it to yourself or you can use the platform you have and help educate and raise awareness . Which is exactly what i did after finding out the National MS Foundation had a walk here in Nashville in a couple weeks. I started a team, spread the word and myself and two friends did the Walk in the snow and raised just under $1300 in 2 weeks. Next year I will make a MUCH bigger impact. You can donate at anytime to my team here Not MS’n Around
Not long after this my dear friend Debra Muller introduced me to an amazing woman in the UK , Natalie Loren Conway. Natalie is the head of TAG PUBLICITY EUROPE , and graciously took me on as a client . Over the course of the month Natalie has put together a press release about me, and shared it globally. Since it’s release she has received numerous requests for interviews which has resulted in almost 30 interviews already. Over the next few weeks they will start appearing on radio, blogs, television and more. She has also secured me a new endorsement with Heavy Leather NYC. We are currently working designing signature Chad Lee Photography leather camera strap . I will post more about that as it moves along, and when and where you can order one.
Below are several links to some of the interviews that have posted so far.

All items are shipped Priority mail with tracking info from their warehouse. There are lots of new items including prints, canvas wraps, shirts, pillows, phone cases , coffee mugs and more. I will continue to add new items regularly . 10% of each order benefits and goes directly to the National Ms Foundation. I would also like to give a huge thank you to Suzane Penley of PENLEY MANAGEMENT for everything she has done over the years as my US publicist. Aside from business, she has become an incredibly dear friend, that I can not thank enough !
20 years of Chad Lee Photography
2018 marks the 20th anniversary of Chad Lee Photography and my work in the music industry. I am extremely humbled, thankful for every minute of it and the friends, family and fans that have supported me along the way. I look forward to bringing you life through my eyes for another 20 regardless of what MS may have in store for me !
Disturbed photo galleries updated with 30 shows from 2002 – 2016.
Over the past 16 years I have been fortunate enough to watch a few guys from Chicago gain huge success. I am proud to call the guys friends and family. Having done over 100 shows from 2001 to current date. Images in the gallery include Mayhem fest , Ozzfest , Uproar Fest, Rock On the Range and others.
The band has released six studio albums, five of which have consecutively debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Only two other artists have achieved this Dave Mathews and Metallica. To this day the guys are all as humble as they were on their first Ozzfest tour in 2000.
I updated the Godsmack gallery of live concert photos of the site this evening. The update now features nearly 200 images from 20 different shows all over the country between 2004 and 2015. Photos come from tours including the Uproar and Mayhem festivals, Rock On The Range , Rock Jam and others.
As always, when time allows I have been going back through my archives of images from the past 20 years and adding content from past shows and shoots to the site.
This weekend’s update is the the Artist Promo/Portrait/Studio section. Additions include photos to the Hellyeah gallery from four different shoots with the band in 2006, 2007 and 2010.
Includes never before seen images from the bands first photo shoot that we did in October of 2006 in Chicago over two days for the album cover artwork and press for the debut cd, which landed at #8 on the Billboard charts.
Another addition are photos of SLAYER and EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt , taken in my studio in February of 2016 on an off night from the Slayer/Testament tour. Gary had just received his new ESP GUITARS custom guitar painted in his own blood by artist VINCENT CASTIGLIA. This was the first shoot he had done with it , and what an amazing piece of art it is ! As a long time fan of both bands it was an honor to have him along with Chuck and Tiffany Billy in the studio followed by some amazing Bbq.
Here is a shot of the amazing piece of art from the studio shoot as well as one of it live on stage in action at a show in Atlanta later in the year
Final addition is a gallery of photos from a couple photos shoots over the years with friend Chuck Garric , bassist of Alice Cooper and front man of his own band Beasto Blanco that features Alice’s daughter Calico Cooper ! If you have not heard them yet , do yourself a favor and go pick up BOTH of their cd’s ASAP . Best description of Beasto Blanco is that if Motorhead and Rob Zombie had a baby it would be Beasto Blanco. Images from our first shoot together for Esp guitars back in 2007 before an Alice Cooper show as well as photos we took at The SLaughterhouse Haunted House in Nashville in September of 2016 can be seen here : Chuck Garric photos
Had a great time working the past two nights with Rick Springfield at the Legendary Wildhorse Saloon here in Nashville. This marks 10 years in a row that Rick has sold out back to back nights over Valentine’s Day weekend. At 67 years young, he is still kicking ass and taking names. I highly suggest checking out one of his shows if you have the chance. They are full of timeless classic hits like Human Touch, Don’t Talk To Strangers, Affair Of The Heart, I’ve Done everything For You and of course the crowd favorite Jessie’s Girl. Aside from the great music, Rick is an all around entertainer with amazing crowd interaction including bringing kids up on stage to sing and dance, walking into the crowd on tables during Human Touch and personal banter with fans during the show.
I have had the pleasure of shooting these Valentine’s shows with him for the past 7 years including the after show meet and greets with the fans, who are incredibly passionate and supportive, many of them having travelled from other parts of the country and having seen him numerous times.
Saturday night he was joined on stage by long time former drummer Jack White who resides here in Nashville for a cover of the Kinks classic You Really Got Me. Past years have seen celebrity guests join him to sing along including Tom Kiefer, The Nelson Brothers and several others.
With Avenged Sevenfold about to hit the road soon for a fall tour and several requests from fans recently, I spent some time going through old images and updated their live photo gallery of the site. With tonight’s addition, there are now nearly 200 concert photos of the band from 15 shows between 2006 and 2011. Photos were taken at venues across the country on various tours including the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival , Uproar and Rock ON The Range. I was fortunate enough to photograph them for the first time back in May of 2006 at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago on for Jimmy The Rev Sullivan’s first feature story in Modern Drummer magazine. Always a fun band to shoot with a very theatrical show full of great lighting and lots of pyro !
