Rick Springfiled photos 2 sold out Nashville shows

I spent the past two nights working my house photography gig at The Legendary Wildhorse Saloon here in Nashville with back to back sold out shows with GRammy Winning, Multi Platinum selling artist Rick Springfield. Rick has managed to sell out 2 nights here for the past 9 years in a row. With a slew of radio hits, movies and videos, fans travel from all across the country to come to these special shows. At 66 years young the former General Hospital star has not lost a beat. Many artists out there could learn a thing or two by watching Rick perform. His 90 minute sets are a non stop barrage of high energy songs, that includes Rick walking across tables into the crowd during his hit Human Touch, to bringing a slew of small children on stage for the classic Don’t Talk To Strangers. Upon the show ending, he immediately heads upstairs for fan meet and greets with up to 100 people, followed by running back downstairs to meet with and sign autographs for upwards of 200 more that bought cds during the show.

Saturday night’s show featured a few special guests – Matthew and Gunnar Nelson and  Tom Kiefer of Cinderella joined Rick for the crowd favorite Jessie’s Girl. The show eneded with another special guest appearance by Rick’s longtime friend and drummer Jack White for a rendition of the Jimi Hendrix classic Fire.

This marked my 5th year working with Rick for these back to back shows, it is always an honor and a pleasure to photograph and work with him. An incredible singer, songwriter, performer and amazingly nice guy. 363 days until we do it again.

You can view my photos from the both February 12th and 13th shows as well as images from past shows on my site here:

New images of Nashville’s General Jackson Dinner Showboat

One of the things I love most about my job as a photographer is the wide varieties of projects I get to work on . While I am most well known for my work in the rock and roll world, I enjoy all forms of the art from landscape and architectural photography, to food, botanical ,travel and anything else that requires me and my camera. Today’s office was the legendary General Jackson Showboat here in Nashville at Opry Mills. Today’s project was to photography the newly remodeled dinner/show theater for web, promotional and commercial use. We also headed into the heart of the boat to photograph the engine room, as well as some fun photos with the boat’s Captain.

Over the past year I have been hired to cover all three of  the offered cruise and show packages that includes the Nashville Live! midday lunch cruise and show, Hot Country Nights and Sunday Gospel brunch cruise and show. Each one has a unique Nashville based music and dance performance as you cruise the Cumberland River from Opry MIlls through downtown Nashville and back with an amazing dinner, show and cocktails. Some days are rougher than others, like the day I had to photograph all of the specialty cocktails and beer’s for the menu. I couldn’t just let them all go to waste after photographing them, that would be alcohol abuse !!

I highly suggest taking one of the cruises on your next visit to Nashville, my personal favorite would be the evening cruise that gives you a beautiful scenic view of the river as the sun sets and great photo ops of downtown lit up at night, as well as an amazing buffet style dinner with carving station and delicious southern cooking !

You can get all the info you need about the packages, and the boat’s history and cast at the official site here: General Jackson official site

You can purchase advance tickets including a VIP dockside tour here: General Jackson tickets

Rex Brown photos uploaded for viewing

In August of 2015 I had the honor and pleasure of having legendary bassist Rex Brown of Pantera, Down and KIll Devil Hill in my studio for two days of shooting. WE spent some time on various locations, including putting Rex and his new Warwick bass hip deep in the Harpeth River here in Nashville. It was a nice change for the day as temperatures were over 100 degrees and the water was quite refreshing. The rest of the time was spent photographing him with each of his new WARWICK signature basses and amps for future promotional use. Some of which have since started to appear on the net in various press releases as well as ads in magazines including Bass Player, Bass Guitar, Bass Musician and others. Included in this gallery are a handful of samples that have since been published as well as some of the actual ads. I will keep you posted as more are published and where you can find them.

Lzzy Hale Of Halestorm photo shoot and video interview

Back in September I had the pleasure of having friend and Halestorm vocalist/guitarist Lzzy Hale in my studio for a project with Marshall Amplification and Music & Arts. We spent a few hours shooting for the cover of their holiday buyers guide as well as a feature story and interview. Big thank you to Nick Bowcott of Marshall for orchestrating the project. The folks at Music & Arts filmed our entire shoot, and followed it by sitting down for a 1 on 1 interview with Lzzy in my art gallery. The recently released interview also features some cool behind the scenes footage from our shoot. Lzzy, Joe and the entire band are always a pleasure to hang out with , photograph and watch perform, some of the most down to earth people in this crazy industry. I look forward to many tears to come of working together. This was my second project this year for Marshall with Lzzy. The first was a photo  shoot for advertising and autograph signings.

LONG overdue update new images added Machine Head, Steel Panther, Winery Dogs, All That Remains, Yelawolf

I keep telling myself I am going to update the blog here more often, it’s on my list for 2016 to post daily.

Been a busy year getting the studio up and running, photo shoots and events. Little by little I try to add galleries of old images from the past 15 years or so. Halloween I added TONS of photos through the years and all over the country of Alice Cooper, Gwar and Rob Zombie.

Lots of new additions in the past few weeks, and some cool projects coming up in the next few weeks.

Recent concert photo additions include All That Remains from their show here in Nashville back in October. Before the show I also had the guys in my studio for all new press and promo photos with long time friend and new bassist Aaron “Bubbles” Patrick. We had a great time, lots of fun and lots of new photos, that have begun to surface in interviews and their social pages.

You can view the concert photos here: All That Remains concert photos Nashville

I will post samples from the studio soon. IMG_6022

October 20 I shot The Winery Dogs at my house photography job at the legendary Wildhorse Saloon here in Nashville. This was the night before our yearly trip to Jamaica. The past three years it’s been tradition to see a show the night before leaving, this year Winery Dogs, 2014 Motley Crue, 2013 Fozzy. Cant wait to see what 2016 brings !

You can view photos from that show here: Winery Dogs Nashville Tn Mike Portnoy busted out the Hello Kitty kit for the first time of the tour at this show. Highly suggest seeing them if you can.

Back in September I worked the Slumfest for Monster Energy that featured Monster artist Yelawolf. He picked up a new fan in me at this show that included a cover of Danzig’s Twist Of Cain that saw Yela crowd surf in an upside down tent !

Rob Zombie gallery update over 200 new photos 25 shows 2010 and 2013 tours

AS I have mentioned before, as time allows I will continue to add images on and off stage from all of your favorite bands from the last 17 years of my career, in order by date and show. In honor of the Halloween season, I have spent several hours the past couple weeks going through the archives and digging out some of my favorite Rob Zombie photos fro past tours and adding them to the site. There are now over 200 new and previously unseen images from 25 different shows from 2010 and 2013 tours, as well as 8 shows on the 2005 Ozzfest tour that saw Zombie performing a stripped down set headlining the second stage. Rob is one of the absolute best front men in the entire industry , and continually puts on an incredible show that rivals anything KISS did in the 70s. Always a high energy show and that attacks all of your senses. At some point in the future I will add more images from other Zombie tours, going back to the first time I photographed Rob Zombie on Ozzfest in 1999. I have also had some off stage portrait sessions with members of his band various projects with Tommy Clufetos, John 5 and Joey Jordison that I will add to the Artist promos section.
