Slayer live concert photos gallery update over 40 shows

Slayer Photo Gallery Updated

I took a drive up to Indiana to see Slayer again a few weeks back on their Final World Tour.   Klipsch Music Center marked  my 184th show photographing the band over the past 20 years.  Noblesville was hit with a nasty storm   forcing the show to be postponed for several hours. Cannibal Corpse was unable to perform , but Lamb Of God and Amon Amarth put on amazing sets.   Performing crowd favorites including Chemical Warfare, Mandatory Suicide , Hell Awaits , Angel Of Death and 14 others. Their set is like standing at the gates of hell with a pyro production that rivals the likes of Kiss and Motley Crue. With upside down crosses of fire that could be felt at the back of the lawn. I honestly don’t know how Gary Holt and Kerry King have not burned their beards yet.

Having been a fan of the band since my early teens, I like millions of others am not looking forward to them retiring after 40 years.  If you had told me in 1987 at my first show that later in life I would be come friends with the guys and work almost 200 shows with them… I would have said you are HIGH. While i am merely 16 shows from hitting 200 it is unlikely . It will be a sad day when the final notes of Angel Of Death ring out , but I look forward to being there to see , witness and photograph it. If you are even remotely a fan, I highly suggest seeing them before it is over. in an usual twist they will be performing before Lynyrd Skynyrd October 11th at Exit 111 Fest . This will mark their final performance in Tennessee.

Final World Tour

I updated my site with photos from the Indiana show this week.   Slayer gallery to 43 shows  for viewing. Going to 2003 and will be updated with more as time allows .   shots from all over the USA as well as my trip overseas in December of 2018. I shot shows in Oslo Norway and the Helsinki Finland show on December 8.  Making these shows even cooler was seeing my good friend Phil Demmel formerly of Machine Head . Demmel stepped in last minute to fill in for Gary Holt who needed to leave the tour as his father passed . Helsinki was also INCREDIBLY special to me as I finally took a show ending drum riser shot of the band as well as a dressing room shot moments before the band hit the stage seen below . An absolute honor and pleasure for this lifelong Slayer fan.

Artist Promo/Portraits Updated Hellyeah, Gary Holt and Chuck Garric

Artist Promo/Portraits Updated Hellyeah, Gary Holt and Chuck Garric

As always, when time allows I have been going back through my archives of images from the past 20 years and adding content from past shows and shoots to the site.

This weekend’s update is the the Artist Promo/Portrait/Studio section. Additions include photos to the Hellyeah gallery from four different shoots with the band in 2006, 2007 and 2010.

Includes never before seen images from the bands first photo shoot that we did in October of 2006 in Chicago over two days for the album cover artwork and press for the debut cd, which landed at #8 on the Billboard charts.

You can view them here: HELLYEAH photo shoots

Here is the original image used for the debut album cover

Another addition are photos of SLAYER and EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt , taken in my studio in February of 2016 on an off night from the Slayer/Testament tour. Gary had just received his new ESP GUITARS custom guitar painted in his own blood by artist VINCENT CASTIGLIA. This was the first shoot he had done with it , and what an amazing piece of art it is ! As a long time fan of both bands it was an honor to have him along with Chuck and Tiffany Billy in the studio followed by some amazing Bbq.

Photos from this session can be seen here: Gary Holt photo shoot

Live concert photos of Gary with Slayer can be seen here slayer concert photos

Photos of Gary with Exodus can be seen here: exodus concert photos

Here is a shot of the amazing piece of art from the studio shoot as well as one of it live on stage in action at a show in Atlanta later in the year

Final addition is a gallery of photos from a couple photos shoots over the years with friend Chuck Garric , bassist of Alice Cooper and front man of his own band Beasto Blanco that features Alice’s daughter Calico Cooper ! If you have not heard them yet , do yourself a favor and go pick up BOTH of their cd’s ASAP . Best description of Beasto Blanco is that if Motorhead and Rob Zombie had a baby it would be Beasto Blanco. Images from our first shoot together for Esp guitars back in 2007 before an Alice Cooper show as well as photos we took at The SLaughterhouse Haunted House in Nashville in September of 2016 can be seen here : Chuck Garric photos

One of the images from the 2007 shoot was also used in a Coffin Case promo ad seen here

Rex Brown photos uploaded for viewing

In August of 2015 I had the honor and pleasure of having legendary bassist Rex Brown of Pantera, Down and KIll Devil Hill in my studio for two days of shooting. WE spent some time on various locations, including putting Rex and his new Warwick bass hip deep in the Harpeth River here in Nashville. It was a nice change for the day as temperatures were over 100 degrees and the water was quite refreshing. The rest of the time was spent photographing him with each of his new WARWICK signature basses and amps for future promotional use. Some of which have since started to appear on the net in various press releases as well as ads in magazines including Bass Player, Bass Guitar, Bass Musician and others. Included in this gallery are a handful of samples that have since been published as well as some of the actual ads. I will keep you posted as more are published and where you can find them.

New photos added Craig Wayne Boyd, Rick Springfield, Stephen Carpenter

Just added a bunch of new photos to the site, old and new. Over time I will continue to add galleries from past years to the site. Tonight I added photos from 3 photo shoots over the years with The Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter for ESP guitars and EMG pickups. Photos from these sessions appeared worldwide in magazines like Guitar World, Guitar Player, as well as the company catalogs, also used for in store autograph signings.  I always enjoy working with Steph, super laid back and fun guy. I spent a few days on the road with my friend and season 7 winner of The Voice Craig Wayne Boyd, and covered two shows back home in Chicago and Milwaukee. Friday was a sold out show at Joe’s On Weed St, amazing show and crowd. Saturday we were in Milwaukee Wi at The Rave, my old home venue. I started going to shows here as a teenager in the 90s, that included the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam, at this time you could go bowling with Pearl Jam for $10 after the show ! I have probably seen over 200 shows at this venue, and have some amazing memories, it’s also where I began my career and cut my teeth shooting bands like Slayer, Tesla, Megadeth, Danzig, Damageplan, Deftones, Machine Head, Hatebreed, Ted Nugent and TONS of others, and now CRAIG !! It was a very cool night for me to get to share this with him in my home town. Craig was the very first person I met and friend I made the night I moved to Nashville 6 years ago. I told him many times,he was going to be a star some day and that we would be on a tour bus together, to which he would always reply ” I hope so bud” . WEll….. we can cross that one of the bucket list now.

You can see photos from both these shows here:

Two weeks ago I spent two sold out nights at the legendary Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville with Rick Springfield. I say this everytime year after seeing his two annual Valentine shows here, Do yourself a favor and see one of his shows if you get the chance. At 65 years young, he is  an absolutely AMAZING front man that artists half his age could learn a lot from ! With a set list full of mtv, radio and movie hits spanning 30 years the crowd ranges from 5 – 70 , and they travel from all over the country to see and meet him. You can view photos from the shows here :
