This past Friday and Saturday June 3rd and 4th Marathon Music Works hosted the first annual Farm Rock Nashville , part of the Farm Rock Concert Series put on by Frederick Entertainment . Farm Rock hosts events across the country currently in Nashville, Chicago, Atlanta, Oklahoma and Phoenix and continues to grow. I would like to thank Freddy Stahmer and April Lee for having Ride For Dime be a part of the Nashville event, and look forward to working more events together over time.
Friday night’s lineup featured performances by Tora Tora , John Corabi , The Nelson Brothers – Matthew and Gunnar, Slaughter and Tom Keifer of Cinderella . The nearly sold out crowd was treated to high energy sets from all the bands performing all your favorite hits from the 80s and 90s. John Corabi performed an accoustic set on Friday and an electric set on Saturday with a greta mix of his solo songs as well as Motley Crue, Union and The Scream. This Nashville resident Mark Slaughter’s first home town show in nearly a decade, and the crowd loved every minute of their set packed with crowd favorites like Up All Night, Burning Bridges, Eye To Eye and the MTV mega HIt Fly To The Angels. Tom Keifer closed the night out with an absolutely amazing show , again full of all the crowd favorites like Shake Me, Nigt Songs, Don’t Know What Ya Got Til It’s Gone , Ggypsy Road and crowd sing along cover of Prince’s Purple Rain.
Saturday’s lineup included another lineup full of great retro 80s rock that included sets from Killer Dwarfs , Nashville’s own Thee Rock ‘ Roll Residency which included a guest appearance by Nashville resident Chuck Garric of Alice Cooper and Beasto Blanco . They were follwed by rockin sets from John Corabi, Hollywood’s Faster Pussycat , Vixen , Kix , and a festival ending performance from Vince Neil of legendary rock band Motley Crue who’s set included fan faves like Home Sweet Home, Wild Side, Dr feelgood, Girls Girls Girls, Dont Go away Mad and More.
It was great to see so many people come out both days to enjoy some good old fashioned rock and roll. While Nashville the city is growing faster every day, we are no longer being pigeonholed as ” that country city”. With more and more artists from the rock and metal words taking residence here and calling it home, many of the performers this weekend are residents including Tom Keifer and his band, Mark Slaughter, john Corabi and his band, The Nelson brothers, and Chuck Garric. Our rock and metal scene is quickly growing bigger and stronger with weekly evtns like Thee Rock N’ Roll Residency shows at Harp N Fiddle every tuesday night that is a fun filled night of 70s classic rock tunes that has had some amazing guest performers that has included Robin Zander of Cheap Trick, Rex Brown of Pantera, dave Elefson of Megadeth, members of Deep Purple, Halestorm, Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy and many more.
I photogrpahed most of the bands over the weekend, you can view a gallery full of images here: Farm Rock Nashville 2016 photos Chad Lee Photography
