One of the things I love most about my job as a photographer is the wide varieties of projects I get to work on . While I am most well known for my work in the rock and roll world, I enjoy all forms of the art from landscape and architectural photography, to food, botanical ,travel and anything else that requires me and my camera. Today’s office was the legendary General Jackson Showboat here in Nashville at Opry Mills. Today’s project was to photography the newly remodeled dinner/show theater for web, promotional and commercial use. We also headed into the heart of the boat to photograph the engine room, as well as some fun photos with the boat’s Captain.
Over the past year I have been hired to cover all three of the offered cruise and show packages that includes the Nashville Live! midday lunch cruise and show, Hot Country Nights and Sunday Gospel brunch cruise and show. Each one has a unique Nashville based music and dance performance as you cruise the Cumberland River from Opry MIlls through downtown Nashville and back with an amazing dinner, show and cocktails. Some days are rougher than others, like the day I had to photograph all of the specialty cocktails and beer’s for the menu. I couldn’t just let them all go to waste after photographing them, that would be alcohol abuse !!
I highly suggest taking one of the cruises on your next visit to Nashville, my personal favorite would be the evening cruise that gives you a beautiful scenic view of the river as the sun sets and great photo ops of downtown lit up at night, as well as an amazing buffet style dinner with carving station and delicious southern cooking !
You can get all the info you need about the packages, and the boat’s history and cast at the official site here: General Jackson official site
